Why local matters

A historic university city throws up its own camera problems.

Canterbury's walled city centre and Cathedral precincts are ringed by narrow medieval lanes and timber-framed buildings, cable runs and external fixings need a lighter touch here than almost anywhere else on this round, and often formal consent. A large student population also changes the customer mix, a lot of our Canterbury work is landlords securing a house in multiple occupation between tenancies, not a homeowner watching their own front door.

Tourist footfall matters here too, the Cathedral and the city centre's medieval lanes see heavy visitor traffic most of the year, so a doorbell or camera aimed at "the front step" on a street like that needs a tighter motion zone than the same setup would need on a quiet residential road, or you will get an alert every few minutes.

Start with a survey, not a guess

£49, credited if you go ahead.

Camera count, cable routes, Wi-Fi signal at the actual camera position, and whether wired or wireless makes more sense for your property, all checked on site before you commit to anything. If you book online or already know roughly what you want, we can often quote from photos instead.

Common questions

Five things people ask before booking.

Do you cover Sturry and the villages outside Canterbury?

Yes. Canterbury is home base, and the round covers Sturry, Chartham, Bridge, Rough Common and Wincheap. Further out is fine on request, travel just gets factored into the quote.

We rent our house out to students, does that change the job?

It changes the conversation more than the hardware. With two universities on your doorstep, a lot of our Canterbury work is landlords wanting a camera on the front door and side access of a house in multiple occupation, checking the property between tenancies rather than watching tenants day to day. We talk through what's reasonable to cover under a tenancy agreement at the survey, not just where the camera looks best.

Is this supply-and-fit only, or can you set up monitoring too?

Both. Most jobs are supply, install and app set-up, with you checking the footage yourself. If you want a monitored service with alerts or dispatch, we can connect you to an accredited monitoring partner, priced on the pricing page.

What if there's no broadband where the camera needs to go?

A 4G camera runs on a mobile data SIM instead of your home Wi-Fi, useful for gates, outbuildings, land and temporary sites. Data plan is billed separately by the network, we handle the hardware and setup.

Do you install alarm systems, or just cameras?

We fit smart door, window and motion sensors that push alerts to your phone, and can wire that into a monitored service through our monitoring partner. For a full monitored intruder alarm with guard response as the primary system, that is a specialist alarm company's job and we will say so rather than sell you something we do not do well.

Want a quote?

Send a few photos of where you want cameras and your postcode. We will come back with a fixed price and the next available date, or book a £49 survey if the job needs a look first.
